I'm going to use you for an experiment. So I've been having a lot of difficulty focusing lately, just sitting down and having so many different tasks that I want to do, that it's been really hard to actually just sit down and focus on one of them and get it done. But there's a lot of scientific research showing that meditation can help with mental clarity focus, all that sort of good stuff, and, you know, mood in general. I've tried to sit down and meditate on the regular, so many different times, tried to develop the habit and never really made it stick. we're going to do two things. Number one, the best way to actually improve at something is to track it and see how it goes. If you're not tracking it, then it's really hard to tell if something is working and how well you're doing and even just to motivate yourself to continue. So I'm going to go and use this, which is a brain tracking EEG headband, to measure the meditations themselves. And what I'm going to do is use you as an accountability buddy. This is the number of minutes of meditation that I did today, 10 minutes. In two weeks from now, I'm going to show you this graph again, and it's going to show 10 minutes per day for the previous two weeks, because y'all are going to hold me accountable. But also what I'm going to do is look at all the analysis from the meditations themselves. This is like a cool spectrograph of my brain from the last 10 minutes, and I want to see if over the course of that two weeks, I can improve any of those metrics and actually show that I'm better at meditation, as well as the subjective metric of, have I been able to be more productive? Am I having an easier time focusing? I'm going to report back to you guys and see how it goes. So anyone who wants to join me in this experiment, comment down below and say that you're going to try to meditate for the next two weeks, and I'm going to analyze all those comments. And anyone who comments there, I'm going to have a record of it. And in the video in two weeks from now, I'm going to go and see who's going to comment. saying yes, they did it, and I'll track it. So, who's with me? Boom. For science.
Additional notes
Do you meditate already? Or have you in the past? I want to know about what has and has not worked for you! If you want to join me for this experiment, use #DSChallenge in your comment so that it's easier for me to analyze! #meditation #science #mentalhealth
