Transcript

TikTok just released their point system and it's literally showing us how the algorithm actually works. They're literally giving us all of the tea. So if you can see here, likes is one point, comments two points, share three points. Can we please start doing even basic fact-checking before sharing this sort of stuff? She says she got this from searching algorithm point on TikTok, which we can do and it brings up these search highlights. And if we click on them, we get this delightful point system, which was AI generated from. the sources that it lists, namely these random creators videos about the point system. You can tell that it's wrong just based on how simple it is. There's no way that the TikTok algorithm would operate on a one, two, three, four, five basis for all of these sorts of metrics. In the world of AI, they can take trillions of data points, feed it all in, and figure out for any given video for any target audience and niche and topic what overall combination so that it's most likely to get viewed more by other people. It's not going to be reductionist like this. And I run all the numbers on my videos, and these numbers over here, they're not in.

Additional notes

All forms of misinformation are damaging! I know that claiming to have the inside scoop on the TikTok algorithm is great for views, but please stop and think for at least a few seconds on whether what you are sharing is actually what you think it is!
